Q: I am outside your service area. Do you make exceptions?A: We are based south of Worcestershire near Tewkesbury. We usually cover up to 60 miles or 1.5 hours of travel. Sometimes we do go farther, but there may be extra travel or lodging fees. We plan to expand to other parts of the UK, so stay tuned by subscribing to our newsletter.
-
Q: What is the cost of hiring Pommes and Butlers for a private event?A: The cost depends on a few key things to give you a unique dining experience. First, the menu choice matters - fancy or special ingredients can raise the price. Second, the number of guests is important, since bigger groups need more food and staff. Third, the type of service you want, e.g. full-service catering, 10 courses tasting menu or our luxury gourmet delivery platters. Finally, the event’s location and how long the service lasts also affect the price, especially if travel or long hours are needed.
-
Q: How far in advance should I book?A: We suggest booking as early as you can, especially for weekends or busy holiday times. Sometimes we can handle bookings as little as 48 hours in advance, but it depends on our schedule.
-
Q: We have a tight budget are we able to lower the price?A: At Pommes and Butlers, we are proud to serve top class food, beverages and provide high serving standards. To lower our prices means compromising on standards, and we will never comprise on that. However, we are able to deliver your chosen menu and packages to your party instead. Contact us to discuss packages that serve you best.
-
Q: What should I expect on the day?A: Your chef arrives about 1.5 to 2 hours before serving time to get ready. They will cook your chosen menu and clean up afterwards (unless you opted out of cleaning). We will message you with the ETA of the chef and any unexpected delays, such as road closures or traffic.
-
Q: Do I need special equipment?A: The chef usually uses the kitchen gear in your home. If you are at a rented space, please make sure there is basic kitchen equipment. For a 3-course meal, we need a 4-ring hob, an oven, basic cooking tools, and a few pots and pans. If the chef needs any special tools, they will bring them.
-
Q: Do I need to buy groceries?A: No. We include all ingredient costs in the quote. The chef brings what they need on the day of the event.
-
Q: Is the food made on site?A: Most dishes are cooked on site, but the chef may do some prep in advance to make the event run smoothly.
-
Q: Does the chef set the table?A: No, the chef does not set the table. We suggest you do this before the chef arrives. If you want table-setting help, please let us know when you book.
-
Q: Do you provide plates and cutlery?A: We usually do not provide these items unless you request them. If you need plates, cutlery, or anything similar, let us know when you ask for a quote.
-
Q: Does the chef clean up?A: Yes, the chef or assistant will clean the kitchen and clear plates for small groups. For large events, the chef will clean the kitchen, but you may need a server to clear plates. You can arrange a server on your own or ask us to do it.
-
Q: What is your cancellation policy?A: If you cancel more than 14 days before your event, we give a 100% refund. Bookings for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve are not refundable.
-
Q: My event location changed. What do I do?A: Please email us at pommesandbutlers@theplate.com to check if we can serve the new location. Extra travel fees may apply. We will let you know if everything can still go ahead.
-
Q: How can I change guest numbers?A: Just message or email us. We will update your booking and let you know if there is any change in cost. Our minimum event spend and travel fees stay the same.
-
Q: I’m not happy with the service. What can I do?A: The chef is fully responsible for the delivery of the service. If the service is not being delivered to your satisfaction, please raise this with your chef during the event. Chefs are professionals and will usually do everything they can to make sure you’re having the best experience. If you are unable to solve a dispute directly with the chef, you can contact us and we will make our best efforts to assist in an amicable resolution. If you fail to make the chef aware of any issues during the event, we will be unable to help you with a resolution. To raise a dispute please contact us by 12pm next day after your event. Please be prepared to provide photographic evidence where applicable.
